Growing together.
The history of the Stansley Group and its affiliated companies reflects a heartwarming story of growth, community, and collaboration in the transportation and construction industries.
In 1975, Richard B. Stansley Sr. founded Sylvester Material Trucking Company, laying the groundwork for a diverse business portfolio. By 1979, with immense potential for positive impact, the Stansley Group expanded its operations to include sand and gravel mining, reinforcing its commitment to contributing valuable resources to local projects.
A key milestone came in 1989 with the formation of a strategic partnership with US Gypsum, now known as Greymont. The collaboration was about more than just business; it opened new doors for community development and marked the beginning of the company’s journey into gypsum materials.
The mid-1990s brought more exciting developments. In 1995, the company ventured into the ready-mix concrete business, enabling it to support even more local construction projects and strengthen neighborhoods and communities.
In the early 2000s, the Stansley Group embraced the importance of cement in construction and, in 2002, formed a strategic partnership with Holcim. This move further rooted the company in the industry’s foundational materials. The year 2009 was significant, as it marked the launch of RWS Trucking Company, which expanded the Stansley Group’s transportation operations.
During the same year, strategic partnerships with companies in solid waste management—such as GDRRA, WM, GFL, Republic Services, Waste Connections, Closed Loop Partners, and Valicor Environmental—enabled the effective servicing of 13 transfer stations, positioning the company as a reliable partner in waste management.
In 2013, the Stansley Group took another big step forward by opening a glass cullet recycling facility in Toledo, Ohio. That initiative highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, reflecting a deep respect for the planet and future generations.
